Writings of David Faylin [the World's Brightest Unsigned Author]
Well, naturally, my novel "Into Kotaom" is my pride and joy. Nope, it ain't published yet. That's what all this effort on the internets is about. A little more info on the Into Kotaom page.
I've just recently started keying a short story or two. I like the short story vehicle. It surely encourages concision. The Creative Writer's Network have published my "Ten Second Superhero" in Issue#7 of their magazine Ulla's Nib. Still quite time consuming, I'd like to try laying out a few more.
Was trying out 10x10 fiction as an exercise in adverbial temperance: this kind of thing, go on, count 'em, 10x10 haha..
Pulp
Steve Splinters was impressed. “I love the colours,” he said.
“Sustainable Forestry labels ring the ecoticket. Clever marketing,” said Nonce.
So they felled and planted. Conscientious buyers approved. Shares rose.
But recession encouraged squeeze. Costcutting engendered deception. Sustainability? Not quite.
Fewer new saplings increased profitability; appeased Splinters; disrupted the forest.
Forest ancients dreamt 100ft-high vigilante dreams with sanguinary endings.
Steve Splinters took ownership of a gleaming 4x4SUV, Woodland Green.
Test drive: Splinters disorients among boughs. “Easy now, Prince!” Ash advised.
“It’s just a harmless chainsaw,” said huge-limbed Prince Mahogany.
Now, legless but sustained, Splinters doesn’t regard paperbacks the same.
I'd been planning a 140 char thing on Twitter too, but that's just plain ridiculous innit:
To Err
“Clone me, Doctor.” “But Sarah...” “Ah, no buts, clone me!” “But Sarah, you died last April. You are a clone. Only— we made a tiny error...”
and,
Bad Hair Day
Juan kept his Glock17 in his manbag. Friday: Louis snipped his hair so bad. Juan let rip. Shells and serum splashed. Clippers still buzzed.
Besides that, I've been scoring and composing my "Novellogues" to better illustrate the novel maybe. Have a look, let me know what you think..
I'd really love to hear from you on any of the spaces. I'd be thrilled to welcome you as an early contributor (: David.
